The timing for submission of the different permissions in Japan varies for each PV project and is always made in parallel. The following chart shows an estimate for the time needed to reach the ready to build phase for each group of procedures and for a project of 2 MW:

PV Projects up to 2 MW are usually connected to the high voltage electrical grid (6.6 kV). However, in the case of projects over 2 MW that connexion is made in the super high voltage electrical grid (66 kV or even more), increasing the construction costs, the complexity of all the application procedures and the installation itself. That means that the time needed to get all the permissions for projects over 2 MW could reach up to 18 months.
